Zones of Regulation
At Great Bookham School we use the Zones of Regulation to help our children identify and communicate how they are feeling, alongside giving them tips for coping with these feelings.
The Zones of Regulation is a social-emotional learning curriculum, created by Leah Kuypers, in order to teach children self-regulation and emotional control. It is often used in schools, however parents/carers can teach and use zones with their children at home too.
They key message is to help your child/children to understand that is is ok to feel angry, be worried or scared, feel excited or be calm, but they do need to find ways of managing those feelings at different times and in different places.
Please see below a 'Zones of Regulation' Introduction for your information along with some tools you could try at home.
