Sport plays a big part at Great Bookham School. Our sports’ co-ordinator ensures all children participate in a wide range of sporting challenges both for competition and for enjoyment. Our sporting activities include swimming, football, rugby, netball, tennis, judo, gymnastics, cross country, dodgeball, athletics and rounders. We are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and to providing fulfilling active experiences at school so that children want to further pursue an active life outside and beyond their time at Great Bookham School.

Background Information about the funding

The government is providing additional funding to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The premium is designed to help children get an active start in life, supporting primary schools to improve the quality of their PE, physical activity/literacy, and sport provision so that pupils experience the benefits of regular exercise.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

Eligible schools

Funding for schools has been calculated by reference to the number of primary-aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11), as recorded in the annual schools census in January. 

Purpose of funding

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Great Bookham School is committed to using the PE and Sports premium grant funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport we offer.
